UAE Vice President and Prime Minister H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Minister of Finance attended the Abu Dhabi International Arabian Horse Championship held at Newmarket races field in the United Kingdom. The event was held as part of the Fourth Installation of The President of the UAE Cup Series.

Yesterday's race included eight rounds of which one was Etihad Airways Falmouth Stakes (Group 1) for Purebred Arabian Horses. The event was attended by Abdul Rahman Ghanim Al-Mutaiwae, UAE Ambassador to the United Kingdom, Taleb Al Muhairi, General Secretary of the Emirates Equestrian Federation (EEF), in addition to senior officials.

The horses aged four years and above participated for a distance of 1600 m. The prize money was £30,000.

Mahra "music show" for Jaber Al Abdullah won the first place of Etihad Airways Falmouth Stakes (Group 1), while the second place was won by Ibn al Fahl "Nofeer", and the third place was won by "rainfall" of H.H Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum.

H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid and H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid visited the traditional tent set up by the Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority in collaboration with the Office of the Brand of Abu Dhabi and the UAE General Women's Union.

Corsica, owned by Dubai Crown Prince H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed Al Maktoum, won the 'Bahrain Trophy' Group 3 race, run for 2,660 meters. Ridden by veteran jockey Frankie Dettori, Corsica reached the finishing line in 2.43.51 minutes, about 3/4 furlong ahead of Harris Tweed.

It is worth mentioning that UAE has a deep affinity for Arabian horses, stemming from HH sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahayan's concern for reviving the glory of the breed, as it was in Arabian tradition. Soon after the world began to demonstrate its concern for the Arabian horse by founding the World Arabian Horse Organization (WAHO), the  Stables of HH Sheikh Zayed applied to become an individual associate member of WAHO, in 1986.
