Syria, China Establish Businessmen Council

Syria (Damascus) – The establishment of the Syrian-Chinese Businessmen Council was officially announced in the presence of the Council's Board of Directors and members representing both sides.

The Council's goals are to bolster economic relations between Syria and China in order to increase investment and trade exchange through the two countries representatives, in addition to introducing businessmen and investors to economic and investment opportunities in Syria and China and cooperating to develop them.

In a statement to journalists, Chairman of the Syrian-Chinese Businessmen Council Mohammad Hamsho stressed the importance of bolstering investment opportunities through promoting and building relations based on exchange and mutual efforts to ensure better movement of goods in both directions.

He underlined the role of businessmen councils in connecting economic activities in Syria with those in other countries to help develop Syrian economy, adding that the Council prepared a strategy for opening markets to Syrian exports in China and developing Syrian products,

In turn, Deputy Chairman of the Syrian-Chinese Businessmen Council Ghassan al-Kasem pointed out that there is a weakness in communication with the Chinese side and a lack of information, which the Council will attempt to deal with.

The first meeting of the Council discussed a number of issues such as granting visas to Syrian businessmen traveling to China, Council membership fees, communication through the Council's website, and Syria's participation in Chinese expos.(SANA)
