Oman, Indonesia encouraging investment and joint projects

Jakarta - Dr. Alawi Shihab, Special Envoy of the Indonesian President to the Middle East met at the Republican Palace in the capital, Jakarta today with Khalil bin Abdullah al Khunji, Chairman of Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) in the presence of Hussain bin Ali bin Tahir Meqaibel, Sultanate's Representative to Jakarta.

The meeting discussed the future of economic and investment relations between the Sultanate and the Republic of Indonesia, particularly between businessmen and women, establishments and companies of the private sector, as well as, aspects of encouraging investment, organizing joint exhibitions and encouraging exchange of visits between concerned officials to develop trade and economic cooperation between the two countries.

Meanwhile, al Khunji met with his counterpart, Adi Putra Tahir, Chairman of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry during which trade and economic exchange between the two countries was discussed.

During the meeting, al Khunji stressed the necessity of exploring aspects of economic and trade cooperation between the two countries and means of enhancing them by supporting cooperation and partnership between the private sector's establishments in various fields and sectors, especially infrastructural projects and services among other fields.

Al Khunji invited the Chairman of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry to visit the Sultanate with a delegation of Indonesian businessmen to attend a joint trade and economic forum to get acquainted with available investment opportunities and fields between companies and establishments of the private sector in the Sultanate and the other AGCC states.

Al Khunji also handed the Chairman of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, a draft copy of a memorandum of understanding between OCCI and the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry that aims at enhancing joint bilateral cooperation between the private sector in the two countries and finding a joint cooperation, which aims at exploring investment opportunities that contribute in enhancing and increasing the volume of trade and investment activities, as well as, the volume of trade exchange between the two countries.
