Oman-HM_Sultan_Qaboos_bin_Said_-
Oman (Muscat) - On 23rd of July, Oman celebrates the Renaissance Day, a historic day as the modern Omani Renaissance rose and HM Sultan Qaboos bin Said announced the beginning of a new and glorious era on the 23rd of July 1970.

With the completion of 40 years of the blessed Renaissance, Oman, the homeland, citizens and the state feel proud of the achievements made over the last four decades. It is happy for the achievements made across the country and renews loyalty and gratitude to His Majesty the leader. Thanks to His Majesty's wise leadership and deep believe in the great capabilities of the Omani citizen, strong determination and ability to mobilize the resources of the nation, human and material, historic and contemporary, the modern Omani blessed Renaissance march goes ahead towards attaining its goals. The top of these goals is to make the Omani citizen happy by availing everything that ensure good living for him and enabling him at the same time to play an active role and participating in drafting and steering the development in all walks of life and construct the edifice of the modern state that is capable of turning aspirations into reality.

The 23rd of July, as His Majesty the Sultan once said ‘a new era for a great future for the nation and the citizen'. Throughout the past 40 years, the wheels of construction and development rolled to cover all walks of life all over the country. His Majesty the Sultan has been a real model in work, dedication and infinite giving for Oman and its people in a bid to ensure its development and resumes its positive active role and to become a harbor for peace, a driving force for stability and the homeland for boom not only for its people but for the region around it.

Although 40 years is not a long period in the age of nations, still it witnessed a comprehensive development that have clear-cut objectives based on enlightened thought and strategic comprehensive vision that benefited from the experience of history and the status quo. It also identified the national goals and worked on implementing them with steady, wise, and gradual steps to keep abreast of the modern development and preserving the Omani traditions and culture at the same time. The achievements made over the past 40 years(though massive)are the fruit of the scientific planning, dedication, ability to follow up the work to ensure materializing the national aims that have always been receiving the priority over other aims. There has been strong keenness to make the Sultanate play a positive and tangible role in all initiatives that may achieve peace, stability, security and welfare for this vital region, as well as, at all regional and international levels around it.

Among the main features of the modern Omani Renaissance, since its beginning under the wise leadership of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said, is the special and deep relation between the leader and his subjects across the Sultanate. On the one hand, under this relation, the Omani citizen, since the beginning has been the focus of attention and priority as he was considered and still is the most precious wealth of this homeland. On the other hand, there has been a strong believe in the human resources development as a main pillar for the comprehensive and sustainable development.

His Majesty has always stressed the importance of attaching great care to the Omani citizen, the human development as ‘the human element is the bases in turning our dreams into reality. Therefore, the building of human being element has been one of the concerns of the Omani state' His Majesty's confidence in the capabilities and potentialities of the Omani citizen is infinite. While delivering his speech at the opening of the annual convening of the Council of Oman last November 16th, His Majesty the Sultan affirmed that a bright future, which realizes progress, happiness and prosperity, is built only with a high level of determination, sustained commitment and patience, diligence and persistence. "We are confident that the sons and daughters of Oman enjoy many of these noble traits. Their past and present performance bears witness to this, and we have no doubt that they are capable of building a happy future, with God's permission."

It is worth mentioning that the past 40 years, since the beginning of the Omani modern Renaissance, witnessed a broad and continuous interest not only in the stages of education (basic, general, university and technical) but also in health care. The Omani government has been very keen on providing the required health care for the Omani citizen. It also attached care to treating the diseases associated with the socioeconomic development in the society. There has also been interest in training and rehabilitating the Omani citizens to help him work at different jobs and businesses. There has been a constant keenness to develop the curricula, policies and education institutions in the Sultanate to help their outputs meet the requirement of the national development which now witness its most developed stage. The allocation for education, health, social care for the Omani citizen is the highest in the Sultanate. These sectors received the big chunk of expenditure from outside the budget to finance projects as per the Royal Orders of His Majesty the Sultan to implement these projects at the different governorates and regions during the annual-meet-the-people tour. This has led to the Sultanate in 2010 coming in the first and second place in UN Awards for Public Service - the most prestigious international award in the field of electronic services provided by the service institutions. The Ministry of Health also came first in terms of introducing a new concept and idea in the electronic recovery system. The Ministry of Manpower also came second in the improvement and development of service. The electronic manpower system won the award. It should be noted that the two awards are related to the service provided to the Omani citizen; an issue that has strong implications.

At the time Sultan Qaboos University (SQU), private universities in Nizwa, Dhofar, Sohar, Al Buraimi and scores of university colleges, whether they are affiliated to ministries or public or private organizations, graduate thousands of graduates in the different disciplines, the social care for the Omani citizen has been accorded with great and continuous care by His Majesty the Sultan and his government whether it is related to social security families or those with limited income. His Majesty has granted them commercial and residential land plots. His Majesty has also exempted craftsmen and pensioners who benefited from the soft loans from the outstanding payments. His Majesty accorded Royal Grants to process all the housing applications received from low income and social security families who meet the requirement till the end of 2009.

As part of the integrated care for human rights; which is maintained at the Basic Law of the State that ensures principles of justice, equality and enjoying the Omani citizenship rights, His Majesty the Sultan Ordered to constitute a National Commission for Human Rights. This national commission will play its prospective role in this field.

The Omani woman, which constitutes half of the Omani society, has been accorded with great care throughout the last forty years in a bid to empower her and help her play an active role in the socioeconomic development witnessed by the Sultanate. The Omani Women Symposium which was held last October at Saih Al Makarim in the wilayat of Sohar as per the Royal Directives of His Majesty the Sultan has strong implication in its contents and recommendations which were blessed by His Majesty. The Omani woman is taking part - side by side with man- at the development and construction efforts. They together form the wings for progress and prosperity taking place in every corner of the Sultanate. (ONA)
