Tunisia (Kelibia) - More than 250 young activists will come together from 29 to 30 July in the Tunisian city of Kelibia in order to promote sustainable consumption in the Euro-Mediterranean region.

A press release said the gathering was organised in the framework of “Youth X Change in the Mediterranean”, an Anna Lindh Foundation funded project, which aims to adapt the United Nations’ global initiative “Youth X Change” addressing production and consumption patterns, particularly of young people, to Mediterranean realities.

During the two-day event, participants will be trained on how to use a newly published guide by the UN initiative addressed to youth, which includes case studies from the region appealing to young people, and can be used by educators, youth leaders, and civil society activists who wish to inspire a new consumption ethic to their target audiences.

The guide is being promoted via a series of launches in the Mediterranean partner countries (Jordan, Egypt, Lebanon, Morocco, Syria and Tunisia) combined with trainings where experienced trainers demonstrate how to apply the kit in a formal and non formal education setting.

The project, which is granted by the Anna Lindh Foundation in the framework of its Call for Proposals, is organized by the Association de Sauvegarde de la Médina et du Patrimoine de Kélibia (Tunisia) and Mediterranean Information Office for Environment, Culture and Sustainable Development (Greece) and with the support of the United Nations Environment Programme, the UNESCO and the European Commission.

The Anna Lindh Foundation for the Dialogue between Cultures is a €7 million EU-funded project which aims at bringing people and organisations of the region closer and promoting dialogue, by offering them opportunities to work together on projects in the fields of culture, education, science, human rights, sustainable development, the empowerment of women and the arts. The Foundation is the first institution to be jointly created and co-financed by all member countries of the Euro-Mediterranean Partnership.
