Yemen (Sanaa) - Yemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh on Saturday reiterated his invitation for Houthi separatists to conform to conditions both had set forth, stressing peace as the only way forward.

Saleh in a speech he delivered to a crowd gathered on the occassion of the country's Science Day, accused the Houthis of rejecting peace and carrying out continuous breaches of the ceasefire announced last February.

Saleh called on Qatar, who had hosted the ceasefire deal, to convince the Houthis to honour their agreement.

The Yemeni president also affirmed his country's good relations with its neighbours, calling on these countries to accept more Yemeni labour into their lands.

"We call on our brothers - especially our neighbours - to invest in Yemen with the aim of limiting unemployment. We do not want of them to inject funds into our public treasury," he added.

Yemeni news agency, Saba, had quoting a local security source as saying that Houthi separatists have been responsible for many deaths, injuries and kidnappings, as well as carrying out acts of banditry, destruction of houses and theft of residents.

The source said that the insurgents had carried out a siege of the home of Sagheer bin Aziz - an MP loyal to the government - for two months, leading to the death of 12, the injury of 55 and the abduction of 228 soldiers and security personnel. (Agencies)
