Egypt boosting tourism cooperation with Argentina

Egyptian Minister of Trade and Industry Rasheed Mohamed Rasheed said Egypt seeks to expand its relations with Argentina at all levels and seeks to increase cooperation in the fields of culture and tourism.

Addressing a joint press conference with the Argentine Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade Saturday 31/7/2010, Rasheed said Egypt is keen on opening new markets to increase Egyptian exports to Latin American markets.

He said Argentina is a major country of enormous economic potentials and the biggest food basket around the world.

Rasheed, who is visiting Argentina leading a 60-member delegation of businessmen, reviewed economic developments in Egypt, saying the Egyptian economy was able to surmount the global economic crunch and continue to maintain a positive growth rate.

The Egyptian economy is the most diverse in the Middle East in terms of agriculture, industry, services, tourism, communication and IT and energy, he said, adding that Egypt signed free trade agreements with various regional powers such as the COMESA.

Rasheed said his visit to Argentina is intended to boost trade and economic relations between the two countries, referring to signing a free trade agreement with the MERCOSUR grouping whose member-states are Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay and Venezuela, as being an important step toward promoting relation.(SIS)
