Egypt, Swaziland promoting electricity and energy cooperation

Egypt and Swaziland has signed a memorandum of understanding for promoting cooperation and exchanging expertise in the electricity and energy domains.

Minister of Electricity and Energy Hassan Younis made the remark after a meeting with Swaziland's Minister of Natural Resources and Energy Princess Tsandzile, currently visiting Egypt for talks on means of promoting cooperation in the electricity domain.

The talks tackled ways of offering technical support in the electricity domain for Swaziland and benefiting from Egypt's expertise in the field, Hassan said.

Under the memo, Egypt will organize training courses for Swaziland's engineers and technicians in the electricity domains, Younis said.

The two countries will also work on encouraging investors to participate in energy projects under the Build-Own-Operate-Transfer (BOOT) system in addition to establishing joint projects to supply Swaziland's market with electril equipment, he added.

While in Cairo, Swaziland's Minister of Natural Resources and Energy Princess Tsandzile is expected to inspect the New and Renewable Energy Authority (NREA), North Cairo power station, a number of companies manufacturing electric equipment and other electricity facilities.
