Oman: 250 Camels take part in beauty show in Salalah

Oman (Salalah) - Sheikh Salim Bin Oufait al Shanfari, Head of Dhofar Municipality patronized the Camel Beauty Show, which was organized by the local Committee in the Wilayat of Thumrait in cooperation with the Festival Department in the presence of Sheikh Amer bin Salim Kashoub, Wali of Thumrait.

250 Camels from across the Sultanate took part in the competition. The camels were divided into two main categories, Al Majaheem and Al Omaniyat Al Asayel. Every category has three rounds, Al Hayran round, Al Mafarid round and Al Hajayej round.

Al-Shanfari distributed prizes to owners of the winning camels that won the first ten places in the six rounds of the two categories.

Yamani bin Said Ahmed Massan, Supervisor of the Camel Beauty Competition said that the participation in this competition aims at enriching the cultural and heritage events of Salalah Festival, as well as, availing an opportunity for citizens and visitors of the festival to familiarize with various species of the Omani camels that are considered as an important activity for the citizens of the Sultanate and other AGCC countries.
