Oman revenues rose 30.5 % during the first half of 2010
Oman (Muscat) - The Sultanate's government revenues rose by 30.5 % during the first half of 2010 to RO. 4220.7 million against RO. 3235.1  million during the corresponding period in 2009.

The monthly statistical bulletin issued by the Ministry of National Economy attributed this to a 54% rise in the Sultanate's oil net revenues, which stood at RO. 2841.6 million by the end of June 2010 as against RO. 1844.9 million during the corresponding period in 2009, and a 21.7 % rise of gas revenues to RO. 445.7 million against RO. 366.1 million by the end of June 2009.

Custom charge earnings also rose by 29.5% to RO. 88.7 million during the first half of 2010 against RO. 68.5 million.  Capital revenues rose by 8.8% to RO. 13.6 million against RO. 12.5 million during the first half of 2009.

Companies' income tax revenues fall by 29.4% to RO. 227.2 million during the first half of 2010, against RO. 322 million during the corresponding period in 2009.  Other revenues declined by 2.8% to RO. 603.9 million, against RO. 621.1 million by the end of June 2009.

The government's total general expenditure rose by 8.8% during the first six months of 2010 to RO. 3517.9 million, against RO. 3232.6 million during the corresponding period in 2009.

The rise in the general expenditure resulted from a 5.8 % increase in current expenditure, which stood at RO. 2119.5 million, as against RO. 2003.5 million during the corresponding period in 2009 and a 7.9% rise in the investment spending, which amounted to 1146.5 million against RO. 1062.4 million.

The support for the private sector rose by 51.1% at the end of June 2010 to RO. 251.9 million against RO. 166.7 million during the same period in 2009.

The state's general budget surplus achieved an RO. 702.8 million during the first half of 2010 against a deficit by RO. 2.5 million during the corresponding period in 2009.
