Syria (Damascus) - Heat wave prevailing across the Syrian resorts have prompted many Kuwaiti tourists to head back home ahead of end of the fasting month of Ramadan that would be crowned with Eid Al-Fitr.

Several Kuwaiti tourists, interviewed in the mountainous region of Blodan, told KUNA that they had planned to spend the whole fasting month here but the unprecedented heat wave that pushed the temperature to 40 degrees prompted them to change their original plans. They also noted that they have not equipped their vacation residences here with air-conditioning sets for they have never witnessed such heat since they started spending their annual vacations here.

Mohammad Abbas Haidar shed light on other problems facing the Kuwaiti tourists, such as the registration of their cars and paper work for residency and exits of their maids.

The Kuwaiti tourists cannot travel to neighboring Lebanon or Jordan without company of their cars and the servants, he said, recalling that in 2006, when he was notified about death of his father at home, he had to travel to Jordan in his car where he left the vehicle with some friends, then returned to Syria to fly via Damascus airport with company of the housemaid.

Haidar urged the Syrian authorities to reconsider the registration procedures for the Kuwaiti real-estates, noting that children of Kuwaitis who die in Syria cannot inherit their parents' properties.

He however thanked the local authorities for the facilities at the border exits and expressed gratitude to the Kuwaiti ambassador Abdel Aziz Al-Dihani who met a number of tourists several days ago and was briefed about their predicaments and problems.

For his part, Fahad Mubarak Al-Nuwayef, also called on the authorities to review traffic regulations that are generally biased in favor of the nationals.

Saud Al-Othman admired the Kuwaiti ambassador deep understanding of all the problems that face the Kuwaitis here. He noted that the diplomat asked the Kuwaiti tourists during the recent meeting to deliver copies of their ownership of real-estates to the embassy for keeping them in a special archive at the embassy.

Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad and Prime Minister Mohammad Al-Ottri pledged, during the recent visit to Syria by HH the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, to resolve problems facing the Kuwaiti visitors.

Al-Othman indicated at various other problem related to banking procedures.
