Egypt calls for establishing center for development in Africa

Egyptian Foreign Minister Ahmed Abul-Gheit said on Friday 27/8/2010 that Egypt has proposed establishing a center for reconstruction and development in Africa.

Abul-Gheit said Egypt will host next year the first coordinating meeting of the Francophone International on peacekeeping efforts and the first high-level seminar of the Non-Aligned Movement for contributors to international peacekeeping operations and the annual forum on challenges to world peacekeeping.

He promised that Egypt will do its best to defend the interests of Africa and the developing world at all international forums and that it will do its best to intensify the activities of the Cairo Centre for Training on Conflict Resolution and Peacekeeping in Africa.

He added that Cairo will launch a call for setting Sept. 21 as a world peace day and stopping all hostile acts on that day, pointing out that Cairo has called for setting up a center for reconstruction and development in post-conflict stages.
