Tourism Workshop Promoting Oman in Germany and Scandinavian Countries

Oman (Muscat) - Mohammed bin Hamoud al Toobi, Undersecretary of the Tourism Ministry opened at Shangri La Barr Al Jissah Resort and Spa today a joint workshop among Travel and Tourism Agents' Representatives in Germany, Scandinavian countries, some German-speaking countries, such as, Austria and Switzerland and their counterparts representatives of travel, tourism, hotel and tourism installations in the Sultanate.

The two-day workshop, which will run at 9 ball rooms annexed to Al Bandar Hotel in Shangri La Barr Al Jissah Resort and Spa today started with an introduction in German language for representatives of the travel and tourism offices at the guest delegation. The representative of the external representation office at the German Ministry of Tourism made a presentation that included major information on the Sultanate. The presentation was accompanied by illustrative photographs and videos. The participants visited the Omani craft products and works exhibition held on the sidelines of the workshop. After that, they moved to the ball rooms which they will meet with their counterparts in the Omani tourism market.

The participants at the first-day will meet with representatives of the tourism installations namely Shangri La Barr Al Jissah Resort and Spa, Al Zahra Travel and Services Office, Gulf Venture, Mark Tours, Bahwan Travel, Musandam Sea Adventures, Khassab Travel and Tourism, Al Bustan Palace Hotel and Marriot Salalah.

At the second day, they will meet with representatives of Crowne Plaza Hotel in Salalah, Chedi Muscat Hotel, Grand Hayatt Hotel, Radisson Blu Hotel, Park Inn Hotel, Ihab Travel, Golden Tulip in Nizwa, Six Senses Resort in Zighi Bay, National Ferries, Blue Ocean, National Office for Tourism and Travel and Oman Hotels Company.

The workshop is part of the events associating the Ministry of Tourism in collaboration with Oman Air and a number of tourism companies and installations in the Sultanate hosting for 120 representatives of travel and tourism offices in Germany and Scandinavian countries: Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Finland and some German-speaking countries, such as, Austria and Switzerland.

The Ministry has prepared a hosting programme that includes visits to the major cultural, environmental and tourism attractions in Muscat Governorate and the nearby regions including the Al Batinah and the Al Dakhiliyah Regions. It also includes special tourism visits to Musandam and Dhofar.

By organizing this visit, the Tourism Ministry aims at promoting the marketing efforts and the inbound tourism from Germany and the Scandinavian countries.

It is worth mentioning that the visit programme for the delegation, which runs through August 31st to September 8th was coordinated long time ago in cooperation and coordination between the Ministry of Tourism and its Foreign Representation Offices in Germany in one hand and the Ministry and the Travel, Tourism Agents and tourism and hospitality instillations on the other hand.
