Egypt, Sudan boosting bilateral relations and joint investment

A technical delegation from the Egyptian General Authority for Investment and Free Zones (GAFI) is currently visiting Sudan. The delegation is accompanied with representatives of a number of companies from the public and private sectors. The delegation will visit the Sudanese capital Khartoum and Juba, the capital of southern Sudan.

This visit comes within the framework of boosting bilateral relations in the economic and investment areas.

GAFI Chairman, Osama Saleh said that the visit aims to follow up the current Egyptian projects being implemented in Sudan and discuss mechanisms to overcome obstacles that may hinder implementation of other projects. The visit also aims at exploring investment opportunities available in the various economic sectors across the Sudanese provinces.

During the visit, the Egyptian delegation held meetings with a number of investment and trade officials in Khartoum. Within the same context, the Egyptian side said that many Egyptian public and private companies have desire to invest in Sudan in the fields of infrastructure, agriculture, livestock, food industries and textiles.

For their part, the Sudanese officials welcomed the initiative and stressed their keenness to provide all facilities and support for the Egyptian companies wishing to invest in Sudan. They noted that Egyptian investments in Sudan reach USD 5.4 billion.
