Egypt adopts mechanisms to promote economic ties with Turkey

Egyptian Minister of Trade and Industry Rasheed Mohamed Rasheed said Egypt will adopt new mechanisms in the coming period to promote economic cooperation with Turkey , especially increasing exports to Turkey which serves as a gateway to markets in other Islamic countries in Asia.

The Egyptian and Turkish trade ministries have agreed to form a joint business team to visit a third country - not determined yet - where they would set up joint ventures, he said.

Rasheed said an agreement was reached with the Turkish side on organizing promotion missions between the two sides from September to mid December.

Rasheed noted that a delegation from the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey will visit Egypt in October for talks with Egyptian businessmen.

Upon return back home from Turkey, Rasheed said he will lead Egypt's delegation to October meetings of the Standing Committee for Economic and Trade Cooperation of the Organization of the Islamic Conference.

While in Turkey, Rasheed witnessed the inking of a protocol for establishing a Cairo-Ankara chamber of commerce.
