Egypt: Private investments reach $ 24.54 billion

Private investments increased during fiscal 2009-2010 to $ 24.54 billion according to Minister of Investment Mahmoud Mohieddin in a report released Saturday.

He referred to private investments registering only EGP 46.4 billion during fiscal year 2004-2005.

Egyptian investments contribute by 72% of the total capital of investments in Egypt followed by foreign investments at around 15% then Arab investments at 13%, the report added.

Mohieddin referred to positive developments in improving the atmosphere of investment and praised Egypt 's constant efforts in this respect.

A breakthrough has been achieved in the establishment of companies, thanks to a number of measures to improve the atmosphere of investment in a number of fields, according to the report.

Twelve investment zones were established in Cairo , Alexandria , 6th of October, Sharqiya, Daqahliya, Qalyoubiya and Fayyoum, the report added.
