Egypt Urges Developed Countries to Fulfil Commitments on Climate Change

Egypt has urged developed nations to meet their obligations under the UN Framework Agreement on Climate Change.

Egypt's Permanent Delegate to UN Hesham Badr said on 5/9/2010 in a statement that developed countries should fulfil their commitments, especially in terms of providing the necessary funding for developing states to help them tackle the negative impact of climate change.

The statement came to mark a ministerial meeting held in Geneva on Sept. 2-4 on climate change.

The meeting discussed necessary measures to create a fund for boosting efforts to tackle climate change. Last year, developed countries committed themselves to providing $30 billion from 2010 to 2012 to tackle climate change. They have also vowed to raise $100 billion a year as of 2020 for this goal.
