Oman to Launch Integrated Waste Management System in Dhofar

Oman (Muscat) - Oman Environmental Services Holding Company tasked the consultative service works for the integrated system project of waste management in the Governorate of Dhofar to one of the consultative groups specialized in the field.

Eng. Zahir bin Haroon al Kindi, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the company said in a statement to Oman News Agency (ONA) that the project is the first of its kind in the Sultanate that aims at establishing an integrated system for waste management in the Governorate of Dhofar in collaboration with the company and governmental specialized departments.

The group will assess the current situation of waste management in the Governorate of Dhofar and identify the appropriate needs to upgrade the system by studying the best alternatives to develop the waste management sector in the governorate, as well as, establishing a real partnership between the governmental and private sectors in the field, which is sought by the government to be activated in different governorates and regions of the Sultanate.

Eng. Al Kindi added that since the issuing of the Royal Decree No. 46/2009 establishing Oman Environmental Services Holding Company in the waste management field in the Sultanate, the company in cooperation with the governmental specialized departments have been seeking to laying down an appropriate plans to activate the sector to be linked with timeframe for the forthcoming ten years
