Morocco: Phosphates exports up 73% to reach 19.06 billion dirham

Morocco (Rabat) - Morocco's exports of phosphates and derivatives posted a rise of 73.5% in the year up to July 2010, with 19.06 billion dirhams, compared to 10.98 billion dirhams a year before, said Morocco's exchange rate monitoring body "Office des Changes".

Regarding phosphoric acid exports, they increased by 73%, standing at 7.9 billion dirhams, against 4.5 billlion dirhams in the same period last year (48%), according to the monthly figures published by this body.

Phosphates' exports totaled 4.7 billion dirhams versus 3.4 billion dirhams in the end of July 2009, that is an increase of 35.6%.

Compared with the same period of 2008, phosphates sales dropped by 53.6%, but rose 46.1% compared to the same period of 2007.
