German state of Bavaria shows interests in Moroccan solar plan

Berlin - Bavaria's vice-Minister of Economic Affairs Katja Hessel will visit Morocco on September 16-18 to gather on-the-spot information about the Moroccan solar plan.

Hessel, who will lead a trade mission, will meet with Moroccan officials and businessmen on the means to further boost economic cooperation between the two parties, said a statement by the ministry of economy, infrastructure, transportation, and technology of the German state of Bavaria.

It highlighted the programs launched by Morocco in relation with the sectors of water, environment and renewable energy.

Morocco can not only meet domestic demand, but also export electricity to Europe, the statement said.

Hessel will discuss with the Moroccan party the Desertec Initiative which is aimed at covering 15% of the European energy requirement by the year 2050.
