FNC: Media enriching democratic practice in UAE

UAE (Dubai) Speaker of the UAE Federal National Council (FNC) Abdul Aziz Al Ghurair has urged the media for building a strategic partnership with the FNC with the aim of informing the citizen about democratic practices and deliberations on issues touching his life.

''Such a strategy can disseminate the parliamentary culture among citizens and highlight the FNC's role and powers,''Al Ghurair said during a cordial dialogue with the media.

He acknowledged the critical and positive role the media plays in in opening up a channel of communication with all forces of the community and enlisting their support for the house's activities.

''Media in the UAE is witnessing steady progress ahead and playing a constructive role that enriches issues and topics it handles ........... this progress mirrors the state of continuous development the UAE is experiencing in all walks of life including the parliamentary work, Al Ghurair added but underlined that advancement in the parliamentary work should be accompanied by a similar improvement in mechanisms of reporting problems and concerns of the citizen, the focus of the house.

On equal footing, he indicated the citizen is demanded to interact with agenda raised under the dome of the parliament through different media of mass communications and this will give the parliamentary a big push forward.
