Saudi Arabia Supports Qatar Bid to Host FIFA World Cup in 2022

Saudi Arabia (Riyadh) - Two Saudi Arabian sports executives have stressed their firm support to Qatar in its quest to be the first Middle Eastern country to host FIFA World Cup in 2022, Global Arab Network informed.

Saudi Prince Sultan bin Fahd bin Abdulaziz, President General of Youth Welfare, President of the Union of Arab National Olympic Committees, and President of Arab and Saudi Football Unions, and Prince Nawaf bin Faisal bin Fahd bin Abdulaziz, Deputy President General of Youth Welfare, Vice-President of the Union of Arab National Olympic Committees, Vice-President of Arab and Saudi Football Unions, gave their statements today on the occasion of the official visit to be conducted by the FIFA inspection team to Qatar during the period from September 14 to 16, Saudi Press Agency (SPA) said.

In their statements, they said they were confident in Qatar's ability to organize the FIFA World Cup and make such event a success, praising the paramount support attached by HH the Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani and HH the Heir Apparent and his wise government to youth, sports sector, and Qatar 2022 Bid in particular.

They also hailed Qatar's experience in organizing regional and international sporting events and modern and integrated infrastructure sporting facilities available which will all contribute to making the World Cup a success.
