Syria, Argentina developing economic cooperation, raising trade exchange

The Syrian-Argentinean Businessmen Council kicked off on Sunday in Damascus.

The Council aims at developing economic cooperation, raising trade exchange volume, pushing cooperation between the two countries in all fields in the framework of the Syrian-Argentinean Businessmen Forum which started activities at the Cabinet headquarter.

Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs Abdullah al-Dardari offered a review of the economic and development reforms in Syria in the past years and their roles in enhancing cooperation with all world countries.

He noted to the richness and diversity of the investment map and the great advantages and facilitations offered by the government to investors through laying out legal framework and providing appropriate circumstances to entice investors to invest.

Al-Dardari cited Syria's economic and investment potential and geographical position which make it entitled to be Argentina's gate to the Arab region in various economic fields, calling upon businessmen to benefit from the available opportunities and attractive atmosphere to carry out their industrial and tourist projects.

Minister of Expatriates Joseph Sweid underlined the role of Syrian expatriates as a bridge of communication between the two countries, adding that preparations are underway to hold an economic investment forum in Argentina with the aim of creating partnership between the public and private sectors.

Head of the Syrian side at the Syria-Argentina Businessmen Council Sakher Alton said the attractive investment atmosphere led to an increase in the number of projects in various fields, hailing the role of the Businessmen Council in building best economic relations in the interests of the two countries.

Director-General of the Investment Agency Ahmad Abdulaziz said the economic legislations formed a solid basis and a guarantee for investors, adding that the Agency is the investors' gate which provides them with investment opportunities.

Head of the Argentinean delegation, Governor of Salta province Miguel Angel Isa said cooperation prospects between the two countries are numerous, calling upon businessmen from both sides to get acquainted with the available opportunities.

The Argentinean delegation is comprised of 56 parliamentarians, businessmen and representatives of companies, most of them of Arab and Syrian origin.
