Sudan, Oman discuss opportunities to develop trade exchange

Oman (Muscat) - Maqbool bin Ali bin Sultan, Commerce and Industry Minister received in his office here today Dr. Abdulrahman bin Ahmed al Khidir, Wali of Khartoum in the Republic of Sudan and his accompanying delegation currently visiting the Sultanate.

During the meeting, cooperation relations between the Sultanate and the Republic of Sudan in various economic, trade and investment fields were discussed.

In a statement to Oman News Agency (ONA) Maqbool said that the meeting discussed inter-trade between the two brotherly countries due to the limited trade exchange between them, particularly there are a number of good opportunities to develop such trade. He also affirmed that the Sultanate's government encourages the private sector to pay attention to developing trade with the Arab countries, as well as, encouraging the Arab exports to enter the Sultanate, especially that there is exemption of custom fees for the Arab products according to the Arab Free Trade Agreement.

Maqbool added that during the meeting, the Sudanese guest pointed out that there are agricultural and food products that can be exported to the Sultanate with good prices.

Maqbool furthered that the meeting touched on investments by encouraging the Omanis to invest in Khartoum, particularly in the agriculture and food industry through establishing factories for foodstuff in Khartoum. Maqbool concluded that such topics will be studied and discussed with the Omani investors.
