Syria, Jordan discuss scientific and academic cooperation

Syria (Damascus) - Syrian Minister of Higher Education Dr. Ghiath Barakat on Sunday discussed with Secretary General of Jordanian Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research Dr. Mustafa Al Adwan prospects of the scientific and academic cooperation and exchanging expertise, particularly in the fields of quality insurance and the adoption rules in the private educational establishments.

Dr. Barakat briefed the Jordanian delegation on the procedures the ministry and the Higher Education Council are taking to control the educational process, its quality and to develop the academic side in the private universities to turn them into institutions to convey knowledge, experience and to invest in the human cadres.

For his part, Dr. al-Adwan pointed out that the visit aims at getting acquainted with the Syrian positive experience in the field of the private universities, controlling the outcome of the educational process in these universities and exchanging ideas for future cooperation to positively affect the standing cooperation between the higher education systems in Syria and Jordan.

Syria and Jordan share a number of scientific programs in the framework of the cooperation agreements and executive programs, the latest of which was on 2009-2010 on exchanging the educational staff.
