Qatar Emir HH Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani, and HH Sheikha Mozah bint Nasser Al Missned arrived in London , in a state visit to the United Kingdom, at the invitation of HM Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth countries. They will be greeted by The Viscount Hood, Lord-in-Waiting, on behalf of The Queen.

The State Visit to the United Kingdom starts officially from Tuesday 26th October to Thursday 28th October 2010.

Their Highnesses will be accompanied during the visit by a high-level official delegation including the Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim bin Jabor al-Thani, and a number of their excellencies ministers.

British Ambassador to Qatar John Hawkins said last week, "It is a very important occasion for the UK and we are delighted to welcome HH the Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani and HH Sheikha Mozah bint Nasser Al Missned to Windsor Castle."
'
'Their visit reflects the importance we attach to the relationship between UK and Qatar, he said. "It is a priority relationship that matters to my country," stressed Hawkins.

We have seen an upsurge in high level visits in recent years and a strong increase in bilateral trade and investment between the two countries. The opening of the South Hook Gas Import Terminal last year added an important new link in the partnership, he said.

Prime Minister David Cameron and UK  ministers are personally committed to this relationship. They have made it clear that revitalising connections with all our Gulf friends is a priority, he said.

On economic ties with Qatar, Hawkins said, "We value trade and investments with Qatar, it is a two-way process. There are increasing number of British companies investing in Qatar, the most obvious being Shell."

Shell is the largest foreign investor in Qatar  in the Pearl Gas-To-Liquid project which is the world's largest plant converting natural gas into liquid transport fuel and other products.

"We have a long established and very strong friendship, but we believe that we are now forging a renewed strategic partnership. We hope that the visit will lead to a strengthening of ties across the board including in business, sporting, educational, scientific, cultural and political fields," he concluded.
