Qatar International Environment protection Technologies & Sustainable Energy Exhibition to take place in September 2011

Qatar (Doha) - Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry QCCI has announced its support for Qatar International Environment protection Technologies & Sustainable Energy Exhibition (ecoQ) taking place on 17-19 September 2011 at the Doha International Exhibitions Center and organized by Stallion Advertising and exhibitions.

The announcement came following a meeting held recently at QCCI, attended by QCCI chairman Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim Al Thani, Dr Saif Al Hajari, Vice Chairperson, Qatar Foundation, CEO of Friends of the Environment Centre, Chairman of ecoQ Advisory Committee, Ali Bin Abdulateef Al Misneed, Honorary Treasurer QCCI, and Haitham Shehab, General Manager, Stallion Advertising and Exhibitions.

During the meeting, QCCI Chairman Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim Al Thani explained that the Chamber is always welcoming positive and constructive initiatives driven by businessmen in Qatar who are keen on advancing the economic and social development.

He also stressed on the importance of exhibitions and conferences in attracting foreign investments specially in the sector of renewable energy and sustainable development. ‘’Achieving Qatar Vision 2030 is a national interest which we all should join efforts to be part of it," said QCCI Chairman.

"Preserving and protecting the environment is an essential pillar in sustainable development for the future," he added.

"Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry is playing an important role in supporting national economy through its services offered locally, regionally and internationally to help businesses overcome obstacles in order to achieve the desired economic and social growth".

Saif Al Hajari highlighted the need to create an ‘environmentally-cultured’ society, a society aware of environmental challenges at present and in the future.

He said: "We are always pleased to see that level of cooperation between institutions and organizations, public or private, to enrich and strengthen efforts for the best interest of our society".

"Protecting the environment, pollution control, and climate change are currently considered main priorities all over the world for its credible and direct repercussions on the future of this planet," he added.

Al Hajari has also expressed his appreciation for the services and the role of Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry in encouraging local initiatives aim to increase environment awareness in the society.

Haitham Shehab, General Manager of Stallion Advertising and Exhibitions, said that ecoQ will showcase latest technologies and products in: Solar Energy, Green building, Sustainable cities Architecture, Energy efficient industrial products, Energy saving technologies, Water treatment and desalination technologies, Sewage treatment, Industrial waste treatment and pollution control technology, Solid waste disposal, recycling Technologies, Air pollution treatment, e-waste, Marine protection and reservation, Vessels waste treatment technologies, Anti-pollution and noise technologies, Eco friendly agriculture technologies and products, Eco friendly transportation, Aviation & Aerospace Bio-fuel, Eco-friendly cooling systems, Sustainable energy technologies, eco tourism, organic farming, environment consulting firms & regulators, environment and renewable energy research centers.

He also said that ecoQ is planning a number of events and campaigns in parallel to the expo in order to increase public awareness on environmental issues.
