Global Arab Network - Arab Thought Foundation

Lebanon (Beirut) - As part of its annual efforts and in keeping with Arab Thought Foundation goals of excellence in all its endeavors the ATF ninth annual conference (FIKR9), will gather some of the best minds in the Arab region, for a deep and meaningful exchange of ideas that will help to identify the role of Arabs in shaping the future.

FIKR9 conference is scheduled to take place at Phoenicia Hotel, Beirut, on December 8th and 9th. It brings together entrepreneurs, decision-makers, academics and intellectuals to discuss new ways of ‘making sense’ and ‘taking action’ to shape the Arab future throughout the region.  New possibilities are emerging from a variety of countries, people, technologies and methods that contain early seeds of potential significant transformation throughout the region. These early seeds are the seeds of new capacities, and communities – enabled by creativity, community, entrepreneurship and education.

New possibilities require new ways of “making sense” of our challenges and the opportunities ahead of us.  Day one shares a variety of perspectives on how to “make sense” of the new possibilities emerging, given “new maps of emerging possibilities.”  Day two builds upon this theme – focusing on specific examples of how to “take action” on them.  Key to taking action is reliance on Arab youth.  Consequently, day two starts with a keynote followed by a discussion between several young entrepreneurs, intellectuals and technologists who discuss their experiences and perspectives on shaping the future.

In this regard, Mr. Hamad AlAmmari, FIKR Executive Director and ATF Deputy Secretary General, said: “Key to FIKR’s vision is to bring to light some of these early seeds of change and help nurture them to greater scale.  To that end, FIKR9 seeks to begin building a community of capacity transformation throughout the region, bringing together people from a wide range of experiences, professions and ages to share their lessons on such capacity building through which the region will be transformed.

He also affirmed: “Our primary focus will be to promote the unique value and culture of the Arab people, through promoting youth programs and entrepreneurial sprite, the acumen in business practices; in addition to that we seek to foster understanding of the Arab Thought leadership with the hope of building global goodwill.  We can’t stop and watch the world evolve all around; on the opposite, we want the Arab to be effective members on the international scale and to have a positive role that goes along with their historical role in drawing the human civilization.”

FIKR9 gathers well-known, Arab and non-Arab speakers who will seek to respond to the undercurrents of change and meet the new demands, through generating new comprehensive forward-looking ideas and insights; Insights that will comply with the economic and geopolitical changes arising in the Arab world, fostering information exchange and creating the right environment conductive to active interaction and networking.
