Despite Economic Crisis - Egypt the Largest Market in Middle East

Egypt is the largest market in the Middle East region despite the repercussions of the global financial crisis, thanks to the economic reform system adopted by the government, said Egyptian Trade and Industry Minister and Acting Investment Minister Rachid Mohamed Rachid.

President Hosni Mubarak is giving special attention to supporting and encouraging economic cooperation with the UAE, Rachid said in a meeting Tuesday with senior UAE officials. Constant coordination continues between President Mubarak and UAE President Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed on regional and international issues, he said.

Rachid's visit to the Gulf country is meant to expand economic relations and establish joint ventures to contribute to promoting economic growth rates, he added.

The Egyptian government will offer soon a number of infrastructure projects worth 20 billion dollars to private sector investors to be set up by the Public-Private Partnership system (PPP).

PPP describes a government service or private business venture which is funded and operated through a partnership of government and one or more private sector companies.
