Oman: Maqbool Receives Lord Mayor of the City of London in Muscat

Oman (Muscat) - Maqbool bin Ali Sultan, Minister of Commerce and Industry today received at his office Alderman Nicholas Anstee, Mayor of the Business District in London and his accompanying delegation currently visiting the Sultanate, reports Global Arab Network according to Omani sources.

During the meeting, both sides discussed means of enhancing the cooperation between the Sultanate and U.K in the different economic, business and investment fields.

In a statement to Oman News Agency (ONA), Maqbool bin Ali bin Sultan said that the meeting covered the importance of education, training and providing London-based British companies with the opportunity to take part at the infrastructural projects that will be implemented in the Sultanate in the coming period.

He added that the meeting also covered the engineering consultancy services and the role of British banks in developing the business and economic relations between the two friendly countries. It also covered the British non-oil investments in the Sultanate, as well as, the outcome of the Omani-British business forum which was recently held in London.

He also said that the meeting covered the role of the Omani-British Friendship Association in encouraging the private sector in both countries to play a bigger role in developing the bilateral relations between the two friendly countries.

The meeting was attended by Dr. Salim bin Nasser al Ismaili, CEO of the Omani Centre for Investment Promotion and Export Development (OCIPED) and a number of officials

It should be noted that Alderman Nicholas Anstee, Mayor of the Business District in London arrived here yesterday on a several day visit to the Sultanate.
