Sony: Oman Information Ministry to Set up $ 69 Million Digital TV Studio Complex

Oman (Muscat) - An agreement worth $ 69 Million (RO.26,550,416) for the implementation of the second stage (technical preparations) for the TV Studios Complex will be signed tomorrow (Sunday) between the Information Ministry and Sony company of Japan.

The new building includes 4 big digital studios for the production of drama, mass and recreational programs. The complex comprises a department for news that includes a main editing hall up to world class standards with a studio for transmission from inside the hall. It also includes three other digital studios for the news programs.

The complex also includes three radio studios for news and 3 studios for connection, in addition to, a theater that accommodates 700 persons. This theatre may be used for mass programme, as well as, music and theatre performances. The complex also includes art library, production rooms and other supporting equipment and offices.

It is worth mentioning that the first stage (construction and civil works) for the complex has started in March 2006 at a cost of RO.12,755,5000. The stage is expected to be completed by the end of February 2011 after which the second stage (technical preparation stage) will be commenced by Sony company of Japan. The project and the complex will become operational in November 2011.
