Book Launch in Lebanon: 40 Years of Sustainable Development in Oman

Lebanon (Beirut) - The party of launching the first issue of the "Sultanate of Oman - 40 years of Sustainable Development 1970-2010" book was held today in Beirut, Lebanon. The book was published within the context of the Glorious 40th National Day by the author Masoud Dhaher.

The ceremony was held under the auspices of Sheikh Abdullah bin Shuwain al Hosni, Undersecretary of the Information Ministry in the presence of Mohammed bin Saleh al-Jazmi, Sultanate's ambassador in Lebanon, a number of ambassadors of the Sisterly and Friendly countries, an elite men of letters, thinkers and invitees.

At the beginning of the celebration, the Information Ministry Undersecretary delivered a speech indicating that the launch of this book about the development in the Sultanate comes to coincide with the country's celebration of the 40th Glorious National Day under the leadership of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said.

He extended his thanks to the author of the book for his efforts in following up the development programmes of the Sultanate since the dawn of the blessed renaissance on which the Sultanate's government has relied on during the 40 years of this renaissance during which the infrastructures of all the life utilities were set up in all the Sultanate's Wilayats and villages.

Al-Jazmi also delivered a speech welcoming the audience and the author of the book, referring to the author's role in casting light upon all the Sultanate's developmental fields.

After that, Dr. Masoud Dhaher the author of the book gave a brief summary about the content of the book concerning the Sultanate's development with explanation to the seven chapters of the book, during which discussion and dialogue took place and review of the achievements under the leadership of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said.

The author also indicated in his book that His Majesty pays much care to the annual meeting with his people in their actual residence to directly hear from them and know their needs concerning the development in every Wilayat and village then issuing his Royal Orders for immediate implementation of them. He also issues his directives to executive the development plans and programmes that guarantee the balanced growth between all the Sultanate's wilayats and regions, indicating that the book assured that the Sultanate is moving in the right path with stable steps for the sake of materializing more human resource and sustainable economic development in the future.

The book consists of seven chapters. The first chapter titled "Radical Changes in the Basics of the Omani Society". The second chapter titled "Horizons of the Economic Integration between the Public and Private Sectors in Oman" - basics of the Omani economy 2006-2009 and the strategy of privatization on the Omani Way 1988-2009, encouragement of the private sector to invest in the agricultural sector. The third chapter titled "Techniques of Modernity for Building up Modern Omani Society" the national strategy for launching Oman's digital community. The fourth chapter titled "Techniques of Communication and Investment in Oman's Digital Community" that referred to the accurate scientific statistics for population, families, Omani manpower, as well as, development of the knowledge techniques in the Omani production and services sectors. The fifth chapter titled "Knowledge Community and Sustainable Human Resources Development in the Sultanate of Oman".

The sixth chapter titled "Contemporary Sector for Tourism, Construction, Services with Arab and International Horizons" indicating that the Sultanate of Oman is a tourist country with international standards and new vision in the world of tourism. The seventh and final chapter tilted "Relations between Labour Sectors and Guarantee of the Omani Manpower Rights and Highlight upon the Development of the Omani Civil Society Establishments and enabling the Omani Woman to be involved in the Political Career and in all Other establishments"

Dr. Masoud Dhaher, stated at the end of his book that a long four decades from the beginning of the Omani renaissance, the Omani development fundamentals were built upon prudent foundations according to accurate knowledge about the nature of the Omani society, emphasizing that the Omani leadership has planned for the Sultanate's sustainable comprehensive development to be built by the Omani national and that was proved to be successful.

After the launch of the book, the Information Ministry presented a visual presentation, tackling the development fields that covered all the Sultanate's wilayats and the aspects of life that the Omani national is currently enjoying under the leadership of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said.
