Emir of Qatar: World Cup Host a Tournament Honourable to All Arabs

Zurich - In remarks following the announcement of Qatar's winning the bid to host the World Cup 2022, HH the Emir of Qatar Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, vowed that Qatar will host a tournament honourable to all Arabs.

Commenting on the last moments before the result was announced, HH the Emir told Al-Jazeera TV Channel: " It was a difficult moment for everyone, especially for us... We know that the team headed by Sheikh Mohammed has exerted great effort in the preparation of the bid. HH the Emir added : "Even if we had lost we would have tried once again till we win ."

Concluding, HH the Emir said : "I know that the perception of Qatar as a small country makes people believe that everything is far from it, but I am confident we can achieve everything."

For her part, HH Sheikha Mozah bint Nasser Al Missned said, the (World Cup 2022) hosting concerns all of us, men, women and children, and we are all happy for what has been achieved."

HH Sheikha Mozah, meanwhile, praised efforts made by officials in charge of Qatar bid, saying: "These young people have worked seriously and honestly".

HH the Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani received World Cup 2022 following the announcement by FIFA president Joseph Blatter.
HE Sheikh Mohammad bin Hamad Al Thani, Chairman of the Qatar 2022 Bid Committee received World Cup host certificate from Blatter.

In a brief speech after receiving the Certificate, HE Sheikh Mohammad bin Hamad Al-Thani said: "Thank you for the faith to us, and thank you for the faith in us to broaden the base of the game and give us a chance .. thank you and we will never let you down and we promise that you will be proud of the Middle East".

Joseph Blatter in a speech afterwards expressed his congratulations to HH the Emir of Qatar and his generous family, the State of Qatar, the Qatari delegation and Qatari football Federation .. He also expressed thanks to the other countries that have not been winning in the organization of the World Cup .. He also thanked the members of FIFA on the effort to participate in the selection of candidates to host World cup 2018 and 2022.
