Egypt (Cairo) - The League of Arab on Sunday lauded Qatari diplomatic efforts, under the auspices of HH the Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, in support and promotion of the joint Arab and its endeavors to achieve   security and stability in the region . It noted that the State of Qatar continues its efforts to resolve many of the crises, including resolving the crisis of the Sudan's Darfur region through fostering negotiations between the Sudanese government and the Darfur movements in a successful way in order to reach a peace agreement between the parties in a way that contributes to the establishing security in the region and  achieving  comprehensive development in it.

This came in a speech delivered by Ambassador Samir Hosni, Director of the Arab - African Cooperation Department at the Arab League  before the Joint Meeting of the African and the Arab  Peace and Security Councils  which resumed session  today  here at the Arab League headquarters with the participation of  officials from  both sides and representatives of the Arab League Secretariat.

Ambassador, Samir Hosni expressed the Arab League's support for the political process in Sudan and work to resolve the crisis in the Darfur region, where the Arab League was making great efforts to end this crisis, and has launched several development projects there and set up a number of model villages, and also sought to make mediation successful with the African side to end the crisis. It praised Qatar's efforts in this framework.

He also referred to the success of Qatari efforts in support of stability and development in the Republic of the Comoros. He pointed out that the Doha conference which was held last March was a success by all standards and the most prominent results of that conference was the allocation of $ 560 million to support reconstruction in the Comoros.
