Oman: 13% Increase in Workforce Market

Oman (Muscat) - The number of national manpower employed at the private sector at the end of November 2010 rose by 13.43% to 204,838 citizen compared to 180,590 citizen at the same period in 2009, Global Arab Network reports according to ONA.

The annual bulletin of manpower indicators issued by the Manpower Ministry pointed out that the relative distribution in terms of the level of proficiency, the number of specialists constituted 9% out of the total number of national manpower to 18,465 technicians constituted 6.2% to 12,619 vocational manpower 30.9% to 63,301 professional workers 18% to 36,835 and limited skill workers constituted 35.9% to 73,618.

The number of manpower registered as job seekers for the first time during November 2010 stood at 6,321.  6,164 citizens were appointed including 212 citizens under training related to work.

As for the level of proficiency, the number of manpower employed during November 2010 came as follows: specialists constituted 8.5% to 525, technicians 5% to 307, vocational manpower 28.1% to 1,731, professional workers 22.7% to 1,398 and limited skill workers 35.7% to 2,203.

The number of expats manpower till the end of November 2010 stood at 1,125,264 compared to 1,051,252 during the same period in 2009, an increase by 7%.

The annual bulletin pointed out that the number of expats manpower working in the commercial works till the end of November 2010 stood at 914,835 and 210,429 workers in private services.

The number of expats manpower who left the country during November 2010 stood at 15,089 and 22,515 licenses were issued for new workers.
