Qatar, Austria Enhancing Economic Cooperation

Austria (Vienna) - Official session of talks were held today at Hofburg Palace between the State of Qatar and the Republic of Austria under the co-chairmanship of HH the Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani and Austrian President Heinz Fischer, Global Arab Network reports according to QNA.

On the Austrian side the session was attended by State Secretary in the Federal Ministry of Finance Dr. Reinhold, Minister of State for Financial Affairs Andreas Schedar, Chairman of the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber Christoph Littel and a number of officials.

Talks during the session dealt with relations of cooperation between the two countries, in addition to a number of regional and international issues of mutual concern.

After the session, HH the Emir and the Austrian President witnessed the signing of an agreement between the governments of the State of Qatar and the Federal Republic of Austrian on the avoidance of dual taxation and the prevention of financial evasion regarding the income tax and an air transport agreement between the two countries' governments.

The two agreements were signed for Qatar by HE the Minister of Economy and Finance Youssuf Hussein Kamal and Qatar's Ambassador to Austria Abdullah Falah Al-Dossari.

For Austria, the two agreements were signed by Minster of State for Financial Affairs Andreas Schedar and Director of the President's Office Marian Warba.

Before the session, HH the Emir and the Austrian President held a bilateral meeting attended by HH Sheikh Moza bint Nasser and Margaret Fischer, Wife of the Austrian President.

HH the Emir was accorded an official welcome ceremony upon arrival at Hofburg Palace.

HH the Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani has granted the Federal President of the Republic of Austria Heinz Fischer the Necklace of Independence while the Austrian President granted HH the Emir the /Grand Star of the Decoration of Honour for Service to the Republic of Austria /, the highest medal in the Republic.

The medals exchange ceremony, held at Hofburg Palace in the Austrian capital was attended by HH Sheikha Moza bint Nasser and Margaret Fischer, Wife of the Austrian President.

The ceremony was also attended by members of the official delegation accompanying HH the Emir. (QNA)
