Qatar: Cultural Gala to Mark Asian Cup Trophy Tour in Doha

Qatar (Doha) - A cultural gala to be held at different venues here on today (Monday) will herald the arrival of the trophy for the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Asian Cup 2011 finals starting January 7, the Qatar Local Organizing Committee (QLOC) announced Sunday.

The trophy for the premier continental football tournament will be showcased during the day-long tour starting 10.15am Monday at the Countdown Clock at the Corniche, a QLOC official told Qatar News Agency, giving details of the trophy itinerary.

Folkloric performances by Qatari troupe will be the highlight of the event which sets the tempo of the tournament featuring 16 nations.

The trophy, with QLOC and other football officials in attendance, will depart from the Countdown Clock premises at 11.45 and head to City Centre where Indian artistes will enthrall fans with another traditional culture programme.

The trophy and the entourage will then travel from City Centre and arrive Villaggio at 3pm where a Jordanian group will present a folkloric programme.

The last leg of the tour will begin with the arrival of the trophy at Cup Museum at 4.45pm. (QNA)
