Turkey (Istanbul) - Kuwait's Consul-General in Istanbul, and dean of the consular corps in the city, Sheikh Fahad Salem Sabah Al-Nasser Al-Sabah, asserted that Kuwait will never forget the prestigious stances taken by Turkey against the unjust occupation of Kuwait by the defunct regime of Saddam Hussein.

The previous remark which Sheikh Fahad made coincided with Kuwait's marking the 50th independence anniversary, the 20th liberation anniversary and the 5th power's assumption anniversary of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.

Sheikh Fahad also noted, in a statement to KUNA, the intimate personal relationships binding leaders of the two countries, namely Turkey and Kuwait, in what always boosts the bilateral ties toward broader horizons, and helps converge views on many issues of interest to the region and the world as a whole.

Sheikh Fahad added that sky is the limit for Turkish-Kuwaiti ties, noting that are many proofs of these strong relationships, foremost among them are the ceaseless reciprocal visits by high-profile officials and at the top them leaders of the two countries.

In this context, Sheikh Fahad said that, "it is important here to refer to the upcoming important visit that Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan will pay to Kuwait in the coming days," making clear that such visit will enrich the distinctive bilateral relationships through opening up further horizons of cooperation in various fields.

Erdogan will visit the State of Kuwait to attend the forum hosted by the Arab Gulf country on January 11 on the Arab-Turkish relations, an event which is co-organized by the Muslim intellectuals forum and "International Award of Sheikh Fahad Al-Ahmad for Charity Works." In the same vein, Kuwait has recently invited Turkish president Abdullah Gul to attend the country's national celebrations of its 50 independence anniversary, the 20th liberation anniversary and the 5th power's assumption anniversary of H.H. the Amir.

Further, Sheikh Fahad said that Erdogan's visit aims at further strengthening ties between the two countries, saying that there remarkable mutual investment in various fields that are boosted by facilities offered by the two countries, the overcoming of all obstacles in view of the exchange of visits, the common interests and constantly growing relationships.

He also made clear that Turkey embraces a lot of big Kuwaiti investments in what reflects the spirit of harmony and the shared responsibility between the two countries, noting that though bilateral ties are deep-rooted ones, they are also taking to development.

On his impressions on the unique diplomatic successes made by Kuwait -- which have its Ambassador in the Turkish capital of Ankara being chosen as dean of the diplomatic corps, and its Consul-General in Istanbul being tapped as dean of the consular corps -- Sheikh Fahad said, "First of all, I'm pleased that this is my first interview with you since my appointment in my new position." Then, he added as for your question, "I think that it is not fair to relate this achievement for my own person, but you should attribute it to the State of Kuwait as a whole."

At the close of this talk, Sheikh Fahad extended his congratulations to His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, H.H. the Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, H.H. the Prime Minister Sheikh Nasser Al-Mohammad Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and First Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Dr. Mohammad Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah on the occasion of Kuwait's celebrations of its national days.
