Tunisia, Oman enhancing joint investment and economic ties

Oman (Muscat) - Khalil bin Abdullah al Khunji, Chairman of Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) received Abdelwahab Sha'aban, President of the Tunisian Business Council in the Arabian Gulf, who is currently paying a two-day visit to the Sultanate.

The meeting discussed aspects of cooperation between businessmen and businesswomen in the Sultanate and the Tunisian Republic, as well as, means of enhancing the joint ties between the two countries in various economic and investment areas to serve the economic development in the Sultanate and Tunisia.

The meeting also dealt with organizing an exhibition for the Tunisian products which will display models of the Tunisian industries, such as, olive oil, food stuff and construction materials in the Sultanate to facilitate promoting the Tunisian products in the Sultanate, as well as, opening new horizons in the field of trade exchange between the two countries.

OCCI Chairman pointed out to the deep historic relations binding the Sultanate and the Tunisian Republic and the importance of good impact that should be resulted from these relations, as well as, intensifying the meetings and communications between the Omani private sector and its Tunisian counterpart and the importance of activating the resolutions made by the meetings of the Omani-Tunisian Joint Committee and the joint councils being held between two countries.

Abdelwahab Sha'aban, President of the Tunisian Business Council in the Arabian Gulf said that the task of the council is to familiarize Tunisia as investment and tourism destination and urge businessmen to invest in Tunisia in the light of the availability of privileges, incentives and an encouraging investment environment. The council helps other committees and councils to bring the views closer between the businessmen and businesswomen promoting the joint investments, encourage them to set up new partnerships and investments in the Sultanate and promoting the Tunisian products in the other AGCC states, as well as, helping the Tunisian businessmen to invest in the AGCC different states.

The meeting was attended by Mahmoud al Khumairi, the Tunisian ambassador to the Sultanate, Abdulatif al Turaiki, Deputy Chairman of the Business Council and Abdulmajeed Khamakim, Secretary General of the Business Council.
