Qatar, Portugal enhancing bilateral relations of cooperation

Qatar (Doha) - An official round of talks between the State of Qatar led by HE the Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim bin Jabor Al-Thani and the Portuguese Republic under the Prime Minister, Jose Socrates was held at the Emiri Diwan here on Sunday morning. 

The session was attended by a number of Their Excellencies the Ministers.

While talks were attended on the Portuguese side by members of the official delegation accompanying the Prime Minister.

Talks during the session dealt with bilateral relations of cooperation and means of enhancing them besides a number of regional and international issues of mutual concern.

Following the talks, HE the Prime Minister and his Portuguese counterpart witnessed the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the Qatari Ministry of Energy and Industry and the Portuguese Ministry for Economy, Innovation and Development, which pertains to renewable energy  and optimal use of energy and a MoU between Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA) and the Portuguese Ministry on tourism cooperation.

The two MoU were signed for the Qatari side by HE the Minister of State for Energy Affairs and Industry, Dr Mohammed Bin Saleh Al-Sada and QTA chairman Ahmed al-Nuaimi, while they were signed for the Portuguese side by the Minister for Economy, Innovation and Development, Vieira da Silva and the Secretary of State for Economy, Carlos Zorrinho.

HE the Prime Minister and Foreign Minister hosted a luncheon banquet in honour of the Portuguese Premier and the accompanying delegation. 

Portugal's Prime Minister was accorded upon arrival at the Emiri Diwan an official reception, prior to the outset of the official round of talks.
