Syria, Malaysia Launch Business Council

Syrian-Malaysian_Business_Council_launched
Syria (Damascus) – The Syrian-Malaysian Business Council was launched on Wednesday with the aim of building partnerships, developing economic and commercial relations, increasing trade exchange and boosting investments between the two countries.

Minister of Economy and Trade Lamia Assi underlined the importance of the Council's launch, reviewing the developments and reform witnessed in Syrian economy.

She pointed out to the many cooperation prospects and the possibility of benefiting from the various agreements signed between Syria and several countries, adding that relations with Malaysia are growing.

Assi discussed the Malaysian experience the possibility of benefiting from it, particularly since the Syrian government needs major infrastructure, industrial and tourist projects, calling on Malaysian businessmen to benefit from the investment environment in Syria to build partnerships with Syrian counterparts.

For his part, Malaysian Minister of International Trade and Industry Mustapa Mohamed said that launching the Business Council is the cornerstone for developing economic and commercial relations between the two countries, detailing the positive results of the talks he held with Syrian officials. He also pointed out to the considerable economic resources of Syria and its encouraging investment environment.

Minister Mohamed considered Syria as important for Malaysia because it is the gate to the markets of the region, calling on businessmen from the two countries to establish partnerships and make use of available investment opportunities.

In turn, Chairman of the Syrian-Malaysian Business Council, on behalf of Syria, Ghiath al-Habbal pointed out that the Council is seeking to solidify cooperation between the two sides through strategic joint partnerships, carrying out projects in the field of infrastructure, transferring advanced technology, expanding investment project base and increasing the volume of trade exchange.
