Oman GCC Boosting the Role of Nursing in the Public Health
Oman (Muscat) - The events of the two-day 9th Gulf Nursing Symposium concluded today at Crowne Plaza Hotel under the theme "Boosting the Role of Nursing in the Public Health" that was organized by the Health Ministry in cooperation with the executive office of the AGCC health ministers council.

The Symposium included a number of initial recommendations that would be reviewed by the Gulf Nursing Technical Committee for approving and circulating them in the final form that include reviewing the results of this symposium in order to reach a common model to be applicable in the AGCC states, taking into consideration the common culture, values and traditions, in addition to the views and the availability of the local experience, as well as, reinforcing cooperation between the various vocational sectors in the healthcare that promote the communication amongst the different health care levels, circles and other sectors.

The symposium recommended the significance of developing a common strategy for planning the human cadres in the AGCC states to include the occupational development, continuous learning, enhancing the levels of the nurses in the field of the public health in order to evaluate their contribution in the health policies development, applying and developing a common view for executing the vocational learning with the participation of the principal vocational groups in the AGCC states.

The symposium also discussed several scientific issues and reviewed the latest nursing developments in relation with public health, community health and the current nursing models and practices in the public health and community health in the AGCC states, as well as, proposing the solutions for promoting the role of nursing in the public health, formulating the recommendations and referring them to the executive council for the sake of reformatting the public health approaches taking into consideration the health care system.
