Egypt Urges EU to Reconsider Travel Advisories

Egypt’s Foreign Ministry has contacted member states of the European Union in the past period to urge them to reconsider their travel instructions regarding Egypt, especially main tourist destinations in the Red Sea, Luxor and Aswan, where relative calm was seen.

Tourist numbers in Egypt plunged sharply despite the relative calm in the country.

A number of EU countries started to respond to the Egyptian request, said Foreign Ministry Spokesman Hossam Zaki.

Finland eased its travel warning to Egypt, especially to Sinai and the Red Sea coasts, Zaki said on Wednesday.

The Danish Foreign Ministry also amended its travel advice and excluded the Red Sea coasts from its warning, he added. (SIS)
