Algeria said Tuesday it was following with concern the unrest in Libya, calling for honoring demands of demonstrations and opening dialogue between the political forces.

"Algeria is very concern of the events in Libya," Foreign minister Murad Medleci said in a statement to France 24 TV channel.

He hoped the protesters' demands in Libya would be met to overcome these difficult times.

Medleci said the developments in some Arab countries were reflecting in Algeria "and they are indeed a unique experience that will enable the Algerians follow these events wisely."

Algerian government, chaired by President Abdulaziz Bouteflika, approved Tuesday a decree that would lift the state of emergency imposed on the North African state since February 9, 1992.

The decree, effective tomorrow, will eliminate a February 1993 decree that extended the state of emergency due to the security turmoil in Algeria.

The government said in a statement it has decided to mobilize the army in the fight against terrorism and sabotage until elimination of terrorists.

The decree states that the army would be handling the coordination of anti-terrorism operations.
