Qatar (Doha) - Winning WTA's Qatar Ladies Open singles title is 'one of the finest moments'' in her career Vera Zvonareva said after defeating top seeded Danish superstar Caroline Wozniacki at the Khalifa Tennis and Squash International Stadium here.

The second seeded Russian won 6-4, 6-4 won her first title in Qatar after twice losing in the finals. She lost to Maria Sharapova in 2008 and to Venus Williams in the season-ending WTA Championships the same year.

Speaking to the media after her title win, Zvonareva said, "This is definitely a special moment for me, especially after that tough match against Daniela (Hantuchova) and another great one against Jelena (Jankovic). I have so many fans here it's unbelievable, its because of them I was able to come through this week." This win was Zvonareva's 11th career singles title.

"Caroline is No.1 and playing very well. I was just fighting for every point and trying to go for my shots," said 26-year-old Zvonareva.

"Coming into this tournament I wasn''t expecting to end my week like this. It''s great," she added. "Congratulations to Caroline, though. She's a great player and a great fighter. I'm sure we'll have a lot of good matches. This has been an unbelievable event."

Zvonareva who became the fourth Russian to win the Qatar Open title after Anastasia Myskina, Maria Sharapova and Nadia Petrova, refused to compare her win over Wozniacki to the US Open semi-final win last year. "I don't think I can compare this to any other matches. It's just totally different moment, and I'm enjoying it." (QNA)
