Lisbon Travel Market highlights Morocco's tourism potential

Lisbon - Morocco's tourism assets and strategy were highlighted during a conference held as part of the 23rd Lisbon Travel Market.

Speaking on this occasion, General Director of the National Tourism Office (ONMT) Abdelhamid Addou showcased Morocco's tourism strategy and its fruitful results, saying that the Kingdom was among the few countries to post a 20% progress during the last two years despite the crises.

On the Portuguese market, Addou said that in recent years Morocco achieved a progress fluctuating between 30 and 40% thanks to the increase in flights linking the two neighborly countries.

In this respect, he voiced hope to see cooperation strengthened between Moroccan and Portuguese tourism operators to attract other Portuguese speaking tourists, notably from Brazil.

The 23rd Lisbon Tourism Market opened on Wednesday with the participation of over 1,000 professionals representing 44 countries.

Morocco is represented in the event, which runs until February 27, by the ONMT which established a stand stretching over 108 square meters featuring typical Moroccan architecture. (MAP)
