Morocco Hosts Russian-Arab Business Council in Casablanca

Moscow - Holding the 10th Russian-Arab Business Council in Casablanca confirms Morocco's important role in the process of revitalizing economic ties between Russia and the Arab world, Morocco's Ambassador to Russia Abdelkader Lecheheb said on Tuesday.

Lecheheb said, at a press conference, that this session, slated May 24-27, highlights the importance of economic relations between Morocco and Russia, knowing that bilateral trade totalled two billion dollars in 2010, ranking Morocco as Russia's second commercial partner at the Arab and African levels.

He underlined that holding this session in Morocco mirrors the will of the Arab world in general, and Morocco in particular to give sustainable dynamism to pluridimensional relations with Russia which is witnessing, over the years, positive changes thanks to the rise in the volume of trade exchanges, cooperation in terms of investment and the mutual and growing interest of businessmen from both countries.

Director of the Russian-Arab Business Council Tatiana Gvilava said that Morocco was chosen to host this event due to its efforts to enhance Russian-Arab relations and the fact that it is one of the most active Arab countries.

She noted that Morocco possesses a noteworthy platform and is a model to follow in terms of developping economic relations between Russia and the Arab world.

Tatiana Gvilava said that several Russian businessmen, from 132 regions and involved in different sectors, will take part in this event.(MAP)
