Morocco Showcases Investments Opportunities to French Car-makers

Paris - Morocco's Industry, Trade and New technology Minister Ahmed Reda Chami, presented to forty prominent French carmakers investment opportunities in Morocco.

During a conference, organized on Wednesday in Paris by the Moroccan Agency for Investment Promotion (AMDI) and the French Automotive Equipment Industries Association(FIEV), under the theme of "Automotive: a new industrial prospects", Chami highlighted that the car industry in Morocco is strategic to the country’s industrial policy.

Considered as one of the pillars of Morocco's Industrial Emergency Pact, this sector generated positive results, as car production amounted to over 11 billion dirhams and ensured about 55.000 job opportunities in 2009.

He recalled that Morocco attracted the French carmaker Renault, which has invested 1 billion euros, produced 400,000 vehicles per year and created 36000 direct and indirect jobs.

Two integrated industrial platforms to produce vehicles for export were created, namely “Tanger Automotive City” and "Atlantic free Zone" which will generate about 15000 job opportunities each by 2015. (MAP)
