
Berlin - The Omani pavilion at the International Tourism Bourse (ITB) in Berlin 2011 witnessed on its fourth-day a big turnout
after opening doors for visitors. Last days were specified for businessmen, companies operating in travel and tourism sector and those interested in this sector. The Omani pavilion is distinguished by its unique engineering design that inspired by the Sultanate's ancient civilizational history.
Visitors expressed their strong admiration of the pavilion, its services, displays and photographs of some tourism projects in the Sultanate, marvelous nature, tourism diversity, as well as, warm welcome.
More than 34 companies and establishments from the private sector concerned with activities of travel, tourism, flights and hotels are taking part in the Omani pavilion. There are also some tourism projects in the Sultanate that display their services, facilities and programmes offered for the tourist.
The Tourism Ministry's delegation, besides participant travel and tourism companies at the Omani pavilion presented booklets and brochures related to tourism in the Sultanate. Visitors at the Omani pavilion were also briefed on the Sultanate, programmes and services offered by travel, tourism and hotel companies for visitors who desire to visit the Sultanate.
Salim bin Uday al Ma'amari, Director General of Tourism Promotion at the Tourism Ministry and Head of the delegation said that the Sultanate is always keen to take part in the International Tourism Bourse (ITB) in Berlin 2011 as it is the major tourism event worldwide. He pointed out that the Sultanate has achieved distinguished accomplishments in the Bourse through its participation during the last sessions. He affirmed that the participation in the exhibition is an annual addition for the Ministry's efforts that aim at enhancing the tourism promotion for the Sultanate and casting light on tourism events and developments in the Sultanate.
Al Ma'amari added that this Bourse witnesses broad international participation. The number of participants this year stood at 12,000 representing all countries of the world, he said.
On his turn, Haitham bin Mohammed al Ghassani, Director of Tourism Promotion and Awareness Department at the Tourism Ministry said that the International Tourism Bourse (ITB) in Berlin 2011, represents a major tourism event in the world and hence, it is a good opportunity for participant companies at the Omani pavilion to highlight and present their services, offers and programmes for the Sultanate's tourism promotion.
He added that the Sultanate's participation, represented by the Tourism Ministry comes within the framework of the Government's attention accorded to effectively develop the tourism sector in the national economy of the country.
