Royal Decree Grants Council of Oman More Powers
Oman (Muscat) - HM Sultan Qaboos bin Said issued a royal decree No 39/2011, granting the Council of Oman the legislative and audit powers .

According to Oman News Agency (ONA), Article One; grants the Council of Oman the legislative and audit powers, as stipulated by the Basic Law of the State and the laws in force.

Article Two; As per a royal order , a technical committee of experts shall be constituted to develop the draft amendment of the Basic Law of the State to be in line with the provision of article No 1 of this royal decree.

Article Three; The Committee shall raise its report to His Majesty the Sultan within a period no more than 30 days from the order date to form this committee.

Article Four; This Royal Decree comes into force from its date of issue.

Royal orders
Within the context of the great attention of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said to avail sources of good living and descent life to his loyal people, the country's monarch has issued two royal orders which state as follows;

First: Increase the monthly pensions allocated for families beneficiary of the Social Security Law provisions by 100% with effect from the first of April 2011.

Second: Increase the monthly pension fund for all those covered by the post-service pensions and remunerations law for the Omani employees of the government by a percentage up to 50% of the categories that receive the lowest pension salary. The Civil Service Employee Pension Fund will implement the list regulating these increments.

Appointing Inspector
His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said has issued a Royal Decree NO. 40/2011 Appointing Inspector General of Police and Costumes

Article One: Promotes Maj.Gen, Hassan bin Mohsen bin Salim al Shraiqi to the rank of Lt.Gen and appoints him as an Inspector General of Police and Costumes with a rank of a minister.

Article Two: The decree comes into force from its date of issue.
